Christmas Day we flew down to Florida to catch up with Tait’s family and friends. The major attraction was the annual Greis-Doker Goat Roast, a get-together on the Greis farm out in Monticello. The food was delicious, booze was ample, and company unmatched. We roasted a goat, and later marshmallows, over a bonfire and camped out under the stars.
Our other Florida exploits included visiting family and friends, driving to the Florida state highpoint, and a sunset walk on the beach. While southern Florida is warm year-round, Northern Florida is more seasonal, and has even gotten snow (it’s rare, but it has happened). The warm ocean water was unseasonable for December. The Atlantic in Jacksonville in December was warmer than it was in New York in July!
